There have never been such long lines
I've been living and voting at the same address in Manhattan for 25 years, and in all that time I have never encountered a line at the polls -- any line at all -- before today. It wasn't nearly as long as the ones being reported in states other than New York during early voting, but if my neighborhood is any indication, this is promising to be a record year for ballots cast. Fortunately, the process was pretty efficient and it took no more than 20-30 minutes to get to the voting booth. Now, there's just the wait to see how it all ends.
I've been taking every opportunity to ask people if they have voted, from the sales clerks at the supermarket to my neighbors in the elevator. A few already went to the polls, others said they'd vote tonight. Keep after everyone you know to vote, even if you're not sure of their choice.
