A good Plastun and/or Sumivych is always prepared

Well,

Say that it is 6 weeks from now or so, and that following fundamentals hold up:

1) What played in Chicago stayed in Chicago.
2) What's not good for GM is not so bad, after all, for America.
3) President-elect Obama meant what he said when he wrote the Audacity of Hope, so that, in fact, it would be safe for the President-elect to say:

"Ah (I) did not have politics with that man!", to paraphrase the last great Democratic Presdent.

Well, maybe these are the end times, after all...

I have yet to check the Rapture Index, but these are bad signs, aren't they?

GOP wants Palin's wardrobe money back

Of course, if these were your tax dollars, they would not give a crap, but this is "GOP" money:

What, No Proper Democratic Angst Or Anxiety?

Well, it's been almost 24 hours now since the Obama victory. I am pleasantly surprised that we Dems have not found a way to hork up our victory already.

So, in my never ending search for hard statistics to help me understand life, and in the spirit of, say, (Senator elect?) Al Franken, I bring you Yet Another Thing For Democrats To Worry About (YATDWA):

Turns out, we are nearing end times!

As you can learn from this article, Obama is generally not considered to be the Anti-Christ, (Phew)

A landslide win for Obama?

According to Wikipedia (okay, okay -- maybe not the most reliable source) [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landslide_victory], a landslide win in the U.S. would be 60% of the electoral votes, or 55.5% of the popular vote.

I haven't seen any numbers yet on the popular count, but if 60% of 538 total votes in the electoral college constitutes a landslide victory, Obama's 338 (so far) has already beat the minimum of 323 by 15 votes.

Missouri (11) and North Carolina (15) have yet to be weighed in, and it would be excellent if he gained one or both of those.

Congratulations to our new President-elect Barack Obama

Congratulations to our new President-elect Barack Obama. The country came together, voted for Change and gave President Obama a resounding mandate with an overwhelming margin in the Electoral College and big gains for Democrats in the House and Senate. Congratulations and thanks are also due to all the Ukrainian-Americans who did their part in this historic victory. Not only did U-A's contribute to victory in "safe" states like New York and New Jersey, they got in their cars and drove to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, etc. to join people already on the ground to help tip the margin in these key battleground states.

There have never been such long lines

I've been living and voting at the same address in Manhattan for 25 years, and in all that time I have never encountered a line at the polls -- any line at all -- before today. It wasn't nearly as long as the ones being reported in states other than New York during early voting, but if my neighborhood is any indication, this is promising to be a record year for ballots cast. Fortunately, the process was pretty efficient and it took no more than 20-30 minutes to get to the voting booth. Now, there's just the wait to see how it all ends.

Greetings from Austexuke for Obama

Hi from Austin TX this is Chrystyna Wynnyk Wilson. I have been involved with the Obama campaign since 2/07 when I helped organize a 22,000 person rally for Obama in Austin.

We are currently phonebanking into the battleground states from our local Democratic Office and we had seveal MOVEON.ORG Obama call parties.

Loved the ad in the Weekly wish I had known about it.

Though I distrust polls taken this late in the game...

CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corp. recent survey suggests older Colorado voters are moving towards Obama:

I would love to know if this is occuring outside of the North Denver-Boulder axis of Birkenstocks and tofu based cuisine.

KIEV, Ukraine -- The United States and Ukraine signed a joint agreement here Monday designed to stem the threat of bioterrorism by placing modern safeguards on deadly pathogens and other material dating from a Soviet-era biological weapons program that now could be vulnerable to theft.
